TAG Heuer Monaco Calibre 6 Automatic 2014 Full Black

Marina Milojević | 06.04.14 | 04:34 AM

A couple of days ago, at the port of Monaco, TAG Heuer hosted its annual VIP party, which was an excellent opportunity to unveil a couple of new watches from its Monaco collection.

The Grand Prix de Monaco, which took place in May 2014, was TAG Heuer’s 499th Grand Prix with its longtime partner McLaren Mercedes and yet another opportunity for the famous Swiss brand to prove its long-standing legitimacy and legacy in F1 Motor Racing. TAG Heuer, the watch brand that invented the motor-sports chronograph, is the The Official Partner of the Monaco Grand Prix with Automobile Club of Monaco (ACM) since 2011. It has also sponsored more first-place Monaco drivers than any brand in history, including some of the most famous names such as Niki Lauda, Jody Scheckter, Alain Prost, Ayrton Senna, Mika Häkkinen, David Coulthard, Kimi Räikkönen.

Tag Heuer Monaco collection was launched back in 1969, making an important milestone in the watch industry with the first water-resistant timepiece with a square case and the first automatic chronograph. This was the very same model that Steve McQueen wore in the iconic Le Mans movie, back in 1970. The distinctive Monaco shape is once again revisited in a new full black model powered by a new caliber. The newest incarnation of the famous legend, the Monaco Calibre 6 Automatic 2014, offers a vintage-inspired styling with a daring all-black look.

The watch is made from titanium and its case has undergone a process of carbide coating, which gives it its distinctive dark look. The surface of the case is fine-brushed and polished to blend nicely with a smooth black dial, its white luminescent markers and vibrant red seconds hand. The automatic Calibre 6 beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), allowing for about 38 to 44 hours of power reserve. In addition, it also informs the wearer about the current date, via window at 3 o’clock.

Tag Heuer Monaco Calibre 6 Automatic 2014 Full Black, which measures 37x37mm in dimensions, is mounted on a perforated calfskin leather strap with red lining. The model will be available exclusively from May to September 2014, with a reference number WW2119.FC6338.
