On the occasion of the SIAR 2013 Gala dinner and auction, organized by Sotheby's, Vacheron Constantin has unveiled a unique version of its Patrimony Traditionelle World Time model.
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle World Time INAH Piece Unique was auctioned earlier in October, at the SIAR 2013 Gala dinner. The aim of the auction was to support and promote the recovery of the national heritage of all Mexicans, and all of the proceeds from the sale of the watch were donated to the INAH - National Institute of Anthropology and History. The Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia was founded in 1939 to secure the research, preservation, protection, and promotion of the prehistoric, archaeological, anthropological, historical, and paleontological heritage of Mexico. Today, it is responsible for more than 110,000 historical monuments, 29,000 archeological zones of a pre-Columbian era, and it supervises over a 100 museums.
Back in 2012, Vacheron Constantin signed a contract with the National Museum of History "Castillo de Chapultepec" through the INAH, promising to give its support in the investigation, study, diagnosis and possible restoration of the collection of pocket watches and clocks belonging to the Castillo. In 2013, the brand is strengthening and continuing its support with a unique piece of its Patrimony Traditionelle World Time, which is one of the brand’s most emblematic models.
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle World Time INAH Piece Unique is powered by the in-house Caliber 2460WT that features a World Time complication with 73 time zones. This hand-wound mechanism beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and it runs on 40-hour power reserve. In addition to hours, minutes and central seconds, Patrimony Traditionnelle World Time shows hours of 37 different time zones with night day indication. The watch is crafted in 18-carat pink gold and it boasts 42,5mm in diameter. Transparent sapphire crystal case back reveals the workings of the inner mechanism and the Mexico’s coat of arms on the oscillating weight, while the front side showcases a 3-pieces dial.
The first layer of the dial is composed of sapphire crystal with gray color shade as day/night indication and 24-hour indications inked and engraved. The metal green shade with "Lambert Projection" type map and transferred cities’ names dominates the center of the dial, having the Mexico inscription painted in green. The cities with the regular 1hr time-zones are painted in black, while the cities with ¼ hour or ½ hour time-zones are painted in red. Finally, there is a matte white external ring with black painted minute-track and gold applied hour-markers.
Vacheron Constantin Patrimony Traditionnelle World Time INAH Piece Unique is mounted on a brown Mississippiensis alligator strap and delivered in a luxury presentation box with an engraved plate. This is a Hallmark of Geneva certified unique timepiece created for the 2013 Sotheby’s Auction Event. It bears a reference number 86060/000R-9965 /00.
