Zenith launches a very special limited edition of the Pilot Ton-up watch to help fundraising The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, an international classic styled motorcycle charity event to raise awareness of prostate cancer and funding for a cure.
This year’s The Distinguished Gentleman's Ride is taking place in just a couple of weeks, on Sunday September 25th 2016. The goal is to gather 50.000 riders in 550 cities across 90 countries to raise funds for the noble cause. Elegantly dressed gentlemen from all over the world will ride their café racers, bobbers, scramblers, and other customized and classic motorcycles in a worldwide communal event, while trying to break the stereotypes about bikers and get men talking about something which is typically considered a bit off-limits.
In 2015, over 40,000 gentlefolk in over 400 cities joined the initiative and helped raise $2,31 million USD. This year, the distinguished gentlemen are hoping to raise $5 million dollars, and Zenith is there to help them! The famous watchmaker is launching five unique pieces of its Pilot Ton-Up DGR special edition to help fundraising!
The gorgeous vintage-inspired timepiece is a variant of the Pilot Ton-Up watch, which debuted at Baselworld 2016. The masculine timekeeper is crafted from aged stainless steel, and its impressive body measures 46 mm in diameter. On the inside, the watch houses a legendary movement, El Primero 4069 automatic, while the dial displays a vintage spirit evoking originality, freedom, and style of the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride.
The Pilot Ton-UP DGR Edition is a column-wheel chronograph distinguished by its patinated stainless steel case and a slate-grey dial with grained pattern. The dial bears the Distinguished Gentlemen’s Ride logo, printed in a vintage-styled lettering. It features oversized Arabic numerals and large black ruthenium-plated hands, both coated with beige SuperLuminova. The back of the case, bearing the DGR logo engravings, is made of titanium. It ensures 100 meters of water resistance, and protects the high-frequency movement. The famous El Primero is assembled from 254 components and 35 jewels. It beats at a frequency of 36000 vibrations per hour, ensuring around 50 hours of power reserve.
Zenith Pilot Ton-UP DGR Edition is mounted on a brown calfskin leather strap graced with the DGR logo.
