In just a couple of days, on December 15. 2010, Bonhams, a privately owned British auction house and one of the world's oldest and largest auctioneers of fine art and antiques, will offer this vintage limited edition of TAG Heuer's reissued 1974 Heuer Silverstone watch.

The beautiful red one of a kind Silverstone watch with a “Jack Heuer” signature on the dial is to be auctioned by Bonhams, and all of the money gathered from this auction will go straight to the Green Cross International, a charitable organization closely supported by TAG Heuer through their brand ambassador Leonardo di Caprio. Bonhams estimates the piece will reach somewhere around £6,000-£8,000.

The original Silverstone was originally introduced in 1974 with its signature cushion shaped case, and is named for the famous racing circuit in England. Similar to the original Silverstone, the reissue uses a Chronomatic Caliber 11, known as the first self-winding automatic chronograph with micro-rotor with oscillating weight and Côte de Genève finishing. The striking red vintage dial features two 2 square-shaped sub-counters: running second counter at 3 o’clock and chronograph minute counter at 9 o’clock. The case back also features the engraving "SILVERSTONE-UNIQUE PIECE 1/1 – CALIBRE 11 – 150th ANNIVERSARY 1860-2010"

Silverstone watches are extremely popular among collectors and they are the second most valuable series of TAG Heuer watches, after the Monaco. This one, however, is a unique piece that represents an iconic and one of a kind creation. Whoever wins the auction will certainly make a true "de luxe" investment and support an ongoing struggle against the challenges of security, poverty and environmental degradation.

Green Cross International

In January 2009 TAG Heuer started a partnership with the actor and environmental activist Leonardo DiCaprio as its newest ambassador. As an ardent champion of the 'survival of the planet' Leonardo DiCaprio works closely and supports the Green Cross International.

Green Cross International is an environmental organization founded by former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993, building upon the work started at the 1992 Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Green Cross International's mission is "to help ensure a just, sustainable and secure future for all by fostering a value shift and cultivating a new sense of global interdependence and shared responsibility in humanity's relationship with nature". There are many countries with established Green Cross National organizations which are part of the Green Cross International network.
