On the occasion of the BaselWorld watch and jewelry show, the house of Armin Strom introduced its new Edge Double Barrel, a large, statement timepiece of bold and contemporary design.
Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel is a very large, masculine timepiece that measures no less than 46.8mm in diameter. The watch is made of black PVD-coated stainless steel, which gives it a distinctively audacious, technical appeal. In the manner of Armin Strom’s creations, the dial of the new Edge Double Barrel timepiece has been completely openworked, leaving only an outer black azurage flange with large Arabic numerals, and the small seconds counter with power reserve indicator, at 9 o’clock position. The minute graduations appear on the outer ring, while the Armin Strom insignia is located vertically off-center on the right side of the dial. The watch face is framed with the sleek black bezel, which has also been decorated with a series of cut-outs, giving it an extra dimension in visual dynamic.
In the words of ARMIN STROM director and chief horologist Claude Greisler: "The time is right for ARMIN STROM to step out with a stronger aesthetic. We've grown in confidence and are ready to be bolder about our vision and design. Our goal is to create models with real staying power that will become iconic for the brand."
The manual-wind Edge Double Barrel features spider-shaped crown wheels, which are fully exposed on the dial side, which means that the wearer can observe them turning as he winds the watch. The movement is the double-barrel Armin Strom calibre ARM16, which is, like the rest of the Armin Strom movements, completely built in-house. The main plate and the bridges of the movement have been treated in grey ruthenium and decorated with cross-grinding finish and hand-beveled edges. The movement can be admired from both sides of the case.
The new caliber ARM16 is assembled from 194 components, including 34 jewels, and it beats at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations per hour. Thanks to its double barrels, the watch provides no less than 8 days (or 192 hours) of power reserve.
The new Armin Strom Edge Double Barrel timepiece is water resistant to 50 meters, and is delivered with a black alligator strap. The model, reference number ST16-EB.90, is limited to 100 pieces worldwide, and priced at CHF 26,900, or about US $26,900.

Armin Strom Skeleton Pure in white gold
Same as the Armin Strom One Week Skeleton collection, the Skeleton Pure range focuses on skeletonized in-house movements. Unlike the avant-garde One Week Skeleton, the Skeleton Pure features a classic skeletonized profile, where only the movement bridges have been cut away, while the remaining surfaces are hand-engraved. The word Pure, in the name of this model, refers to the pure, restrained profile of the movement, which is more contemporary, and less lavishly decorated than typical skeletons. The main decorative features of the movement are...
