Armin Strom manufacture celebrates its 10th anniversary this month. To mark a full decade of watchmaking excellence, the brand introduces the Minute Repeater Resonance Masterpiece 2, a watch that has been announced as the world’s first two-in-one. As its name suggests, this exclusive model unites two complications, resonance and minute repeater. It features two independent vertically-stacked movements, and two independent mainsprings in one barrel.
The Minute Repeater Resonance is inspired by the Bern’s centuries old chiming tower clock. It highlights and reveals the minute repeater and the phenomenon of resonance right from the dial side. Two hand polished hammers at 11 and 1 o’clock respectively chime the hours and minutes on two three-dimensionally curved gongs encircling the hour/minute subdial. Two independent regulators, one for each of the movements, are visible at 5 and 7 o’clock.
The watch is crafted from Grade 5 titanium, a lightweight material that also provides optimum sound transmission. A generously sized case, measuring 47,7 mm, allows for a loud volume of sound. Visible between the two balances is Armin Strom’s patented Resonance Clutch Spring, a product of a 3-year research, which allows the two independent systems to operate in resonance with each other, thus improving the overall accuracy of the watch.
