Audemars Piguet pays a tribute to Italy by creating a special limited edition of the Royal Oak Chronograph.
The house of Audemars Piguet presents a new, limited edition version of its flagship model, the Royal Oak Chronograph. This time, the classic in the Royal Oak range pays a tribute to both Italy and the city of Milan, home of the Universal Exhibition 2015. The watch, which is available in a limited edition of 500 pieces, is delivered in a special presentation box that features a metal plate that replicates the watch's case-back with the colors of the Italian flag.
Many Italy-inspired details can be found on this special limited edition of the Royal Oak Chronograph. For example, the indices on the 30-minute counter are colored in green, red, and white, which are Italian national colors. The reverse side of the watch features an engraving “Swiss Made Limited Edition,” while its case is mounted on a rubber strap. This rare choice of material is what makes the watch even more exceptional, since the only Royal Oak Chronograph to feature this material was the City of Sails model, produced in 2002.
The new Royal Oak Chronograph is made of stainless steel, and it measures 41mm in diameter. Its surfaces alternate between shiny and satin finished, while the octagonal yellow gold bezel features eight hexagonal screws. The dial is graced with the collection's classic "Grande Tapisserie" motif, and covered with a glare-proof sapphire crystal. A screw-locked crown makes it water resistant to up to 50 meters.
The Royal Oak Chronograph is powered by the self-winding Caliber 2385, which is assembled from 304 individual components and 37 jewels. The movement beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour, and it promises at least 40 hours of power reserve. The caliber drives indications for hours and minutes, small seconds at 6 o’clock, chronograph with continuous central seconds hand and a 30-minute counter (at 3 o'clock), and a date.
Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Chronograph Tribute to Italy, reference number 26326ST.OO.D027CA.01, is delivered with an additional blue alligator strap.
