Audemars Piguet is launching a beautiful new tourbillon as a part of their Tradition line.
The Tradition Tourbillon Minute Repeater Chronograph by Audemars Piguet is a very special strictly 10-piece limited edition watch crafted in titanium. The large 47mm-wide cushion-shaped case houses the extraordinary AP caliber 2874, composed of no less than 504 individual components. As you can see on the bottom image, the mechanism is generously decorated in the spirit of true haute horlogerie. The movement is a genuine demonstration of watchmaking proficiency with its remarkable finishing and an assembly of some of the most demanding complications.
Audemars Piguet Tradition Tourbillon Minute Repeater Chronograph is inspired by a 1920s cushion-shaped pocket-watch, which now belongs to brand’s private museum. In its contemporary reincarnation, this watch is produced in two limited editions: one in pink and white gold, and the other in titanium and white gold. The first version is featured on the images in this article and it has a pink gold case middle topped by a white gold bezel. The anthracite color of the dial is beautifully contrasted with pink gold hands and hour-markers, while the black leather strap completes the impression of luxury and prestige.
One of the major complications of this watch is a minute repeater which culminates in the titanium version of the model. The auditory experience of its performance is even more pronounced with titanium housing, since the quality of the sound largely depends on the case material. The large proportions of the case are also chosen for a special reason – to maximize the listening pleasure by boosting the sound volume.
Audemars Piguet Tradition Tourbillon Minute Repeater Chronograph is powered by a mechanical hand-wound caliber which is visible through the transparent case-back. The gorgeous finishing is a result of hundreds of hours of work: beveling, sandblasting, recesses, sinks, mirror polishing… are all products of meticulous workmanship and the utter demonstration of the artist’s mastery.
