The second edition of the Chopard Classic Rally Dubai was held on November 9, 2018. The sporting evet organized by Chopard and its partners, Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and Emaar Properties, brought together 30 classic sports cars coming from the United Arab Emirates, Gulf region, Europe and the United States. The first place team, driver and co-driver, received the limited edition of the L.U.C 1937 Classic Rally Dubai Special Edition, an exclusive model dedicated to Middle Eastern classic racing enthusiasts.
This special edition timepiece, described as a darkly handsome chronometer, is produced in a 20-piece limited run. Aimed at classic car enthusiasts, gentlemen drivers, this sporty elegant timepiece exudes the refined taste. The masculine proportions of 42 mm in diameter are paired with sober, ruthenium toned satin-brushed dial with metallic black Dauphine-type hands and hour-markers.
The watch is powered by the Calibre 01.01-M, an automatic movement endowed with 60 hours of power reserve. This in-house movement is decorated with engine-type finishes, with details inspired by those found on racing car engines. The bridges are openworked and engraved with horizontal grooves, evoking the cylinder heads of the V12 engines. The movement can be admired through a transparent sapphire case-back bearing the rally logo. The L.U.C 1937 Classic Rally Dubai is also chronometer-certified by the COSC. The watch is presented on a timepiece, crafted from hand-sewn black alligator leather with large square scales, with the lining in chestnut brown alligator leather with small square scales.
