Christophe Claret presents his latest musical masterpiece – the Allegro.

For BaselWorld 2015, Christophe Claret unveiled a new sequel to the range of extraordinary musical watches. Following the Adagio and Soprano, the famous master watchmaker presents the Allegro, a watch that combines only the finest watchmaking complications: a minute repeater with cathedral gongs, GMT, big date, small seconds, and day/night indicator. The watch is available in two different versions – crafted from either red gold, or white gold and titanium, while its entirely remodeled movement features a unique in-house regulator.
The new chiming timepiece is inspired by Christophe Claret’s earlier creations. Nevertheless, it brings a number of significant innovations, such as elaborate changes on the movement. The redesigned movement features a new regulating organ, which has been designed and produced in Christophe Claret’s workshops. The caliber is regulated by a balance that beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour, powered by a single mainspring barrel. Thanks to it, the watch is equipped with at least 60 hours of power reserve.
The left side of the round case, at 10 o’clock position, features a traditional slide that triggers the minute repeater. The rake of the chiming apparatus is visible through an aperture in the lower portion of the sapphire dial, while both hammers can be admired through the transparent case-back. For this particular model, Christophe Claret has chosen a balance wheel with countersunk screws, which offers a superior inertia/weight ratio, and easier regulation and balancing. The cathedral gongs are formed according to the master watchmaker’s patented invention that minimizes excessive vibrations and contributes to clearer chimes. The numbers engraved on the case-back of the watch is actually the numbers of all three patents that can be found in Allegro’s movement: for the big date, the balance micro-regulation, and the gongs.
The ALG89, mechanical, hand-wound movement, is gorgeously decorated in the spirit of haute horlogerie, with beadblasted and rhodium-plated nickel silver for the white gold version or pink gold for the pink gold version. The case, which is made of precious metal, measures 45mm in diameter. It embraces either full-sapphire dial or semi-open dial. The dial is highlighted by hands made of either orange sapphire crystal and anthracite PVD treated titanium, or sapphire crystal, black lacquer and anthracite PVD titanium. The watch is water resistant to 100 meters, and it comes with a black alligator leather strap.
The both the white gold/ grade 5 titanium version, and the 5N red gold and grade 5 titanium variant, are limited to 20 pieces worldwide. The model, in each of its renditions retails at 268.000 CHF.
