Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian

Marina Milojević | 08.26.15 | 10:11 PM

Earlier this year, the house Kerbedanz unveiled the Tourbillon A’Ghiran, an exquisite timepiece which has now been nominated for the Chronometry Competition – LeLocle 2015. The watch, which has undergone though testing since May 28, 2015, is now cited for the Tourbillon category. As the brand explains in its official press release, the actual nomination is already considered a victory in itself, because many of the candidates never make it behind the first lap. Each nominated timepiece is tested for over six months, in terms of precision, shock and water resistance, and magnetic interference.

Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian belongs to a special limited series, comprising 41 pieces, which is inspired by the Celtic musicality and mysticism. A' Ghrian is a traditional Gaelic song to the sun. In Celtic tradition, both the Sun and the Moon are perceived as feminine. The Tourbillon A’Ghrian combines symbolic elements on the handcrafted dial and movement, to represent luminosity and refined femininity.

Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian nomination

The exclusive three-layer laminated rose gold dial is manufactured and decorated by Kerbedanz. It features multi-layered galvanic treatment with solid white gold appliques and "Gaelic sun" decorative interlacing background. The hand-wound tourbillon caliber KRB-01 is also embellished in-house, and produced in collaboration with the movement manufacturer Technotime. The caliber is mounted on 27 jewels, and it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Thanks to its double spring barrel, the movement ensures no less than 120 hours of power reserve. The tourbillon is located in the southwest position, between 7 and 8 o'clock, in the very axis of the winding crown.

Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian measures 43mm in diameter, and it features a transparent case back revealing the back of the movement engraved with the Kerbedanz colors. The timekeeper is water resistant to 50 meters and it comes with a “Birth Book” filled with symbols and legends that surround the sun, both as a fulcrum and as a point of reference. Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian comes on an alligator Mississippiensis leather strap with a Kerbedanz personalized folding clasp in 18-karat white gold.
