Kerbedanz Tree of Life

Marina Milojević | 02.10.16 | 08:53 PM

The house of Kerbedanz has announced the launch of its latest creation – the Tree of Life.

Same as all other horological creations by the Neuchâtel-based manufacture, the Tree of life will be released in an ultra-exclusive series, comprising just 41 pieces. As always, in an attempt to give sense to something that is merely beautiful, Kerbedanz derives its inspiration from a universe of symbols. Each of Kerbedanz’s creations is pregnant with meaning, surrounded by the allegories, legends, myths, and symbols. Moreover, each of its horological creations is accompanied by a luxurious "Book of Birth," which tells the story about the inspiration that influenced its design.

Kerbedanz Tree of Life

The extraordinary new Tree of Life model is inspired by a widespread archetype in the mythologies of the world. The Tree of Life, also known as the sacred tree, is a metaphor for connecting all forms of creation, and a symbol of immortality. The dial of the watch reveals deep roots and spreading branches of the tree that connects the heaven and earth, spiritual and eternal. The hand-sculped gold tree is set against the green enameled dial, while the case is entirely set with green emeralds, evoking the color of life itself.

Kerbedanz Tree of Life

The tree, made of solid yellow gold, in a bas-relief sculpture, is set with 8 sparkling white diamonds. They symbolize the fruits of the tree, each a token of immortality. The case measures 42 mm in diameter, and it accommodates the mechanical automatic KRB-03 calibre. The movement is based on the original Technotime base calibre, which beats at a frequency of 28800 vibrations per hour, and provides about 120 hours of power reserve. The case, together with its crown and lugs, is set with 541 emeralds (totaling about 5 carats), and water resistant to 50 meters.

The 41-piece limited series Kerbedanz Tree of Life will be officially unveiled at this year’s BaselWorld trade show, which takes place from March 17 - 24, 2016. For more information about the timepiece, please visit kerbedanz.com.

Earlier this year, the house Kerbedanz unveiled the Tourbillon A’Ghiran, an exquisite timepiece which has now been nominated for the Chronometry Competition – LeLocle 2015. The watch, which has undergone though testing since May 28, 2015, is now cited for the Tourbillon category. As the brand explains in its official press release, the actual nomination is already considered a victory in itself, because many of the candidates never make it behind the first lap. Each nominated timepiece is tested for over six months, in terms of precision, shock and water resistance, and magnetic interference.

Kerbedanz Tourbillon A’Ghrian belongs to a special limited series, comprising 41 pieces, which is inspired by the Celtic musicality and mysticism. A' Ghrian is a traditional Gaelic song to the sun. In Celtic tradition, both the Sun and the Moon are perceived as feminine. The Tourbillon A’Ghrian combines symbolic elements on the handcrafted dial and movement, to represent luminosity and refined femininity. The exclusive three-layer laminated rose gold dial is manufactured and decorated by Kerbedanz. It features multi-layered galvanic tre...
