Linde Werdelin Oktopus MoonLite

Marina Milojević | 07.29.14 | 07:49 AM

Linde Werdelin has just announced that its much-awaited Oktopus MoonLite wristwatch is finally available for purchase.

Linde Werdelin Oktopus MoonLite is currently available in the Linde Werdelin e-Boutique, and from the brand’s authorized retailers. The model is produced in a strictly limited edition of 59 pieces, and it retails at 18,000 – excluding VAT. Introduced earlier this year at Baselworld 2014, the new member of the Oktopus II family arrives with special inner and outer cases that are made from colorless ALW (Alloy Linde Werdelin), which was developed specifically for the brand. This cutting-edge material is described as twice as hard as steel and half the weight of titanium. With its 62,5 grams, this is the lightest Linde Werdelin watch available, and the lightest ever crated.

Despite its lightweightness, the watch looks quite robust, as its case measures 44 mm x 45 mm x 15 mm. The case is satin polished and microbille finished, which gives it a fine pearlescent texture and considerable similarity to ceramic. The winding crown is made of titanium, and it features the brand’s recognizable Oktopus insignia.

Linde Werdelin Oktopus MoonLite features a fully skeletonized dial, composed of 5 separate layers. Its Réhaut and top layer are fully exposed, it features Arabic numerals at 12, 9 and 3 and has a nice circular satin finish. The lower part of the dial reveals a decorative Côtes de Genève pattern with a circular perlage decoration applied on the surface of moon disc. It consists of small, overlapping circles which create luminent photorealistic images of different faces of the Moon. The same disc also features a blue full moon indicator, and red numerals for moon phases.

The reverse side of the watch reveals a solid case-back with an Oktopus engraving and a kind reminder for its wearer “Rinse Post Sea.” Oktopus MoonLite is also ready for some serious underwater adventures, as its design promises no less than 300m of water resistance. The watch is mounted on a refined white rubber strap, which is interchangeable within Linde Werdelin’s proprietary strap system, thus allowing the wearer to change its looks to suit different occasions.

Introducing the Linde Werdelin SpidoLite II

Linde Werdelin is a watchmaking brand built upon an interesting concept. This high-end watch manufacture revolves around the “watch-instrument” idea – their creations are not watches in a true sense of the word, but rather luxury sports instruments that can also be worn with an attachable sports gear – for example, as a ski instrument or dive instrument. The brand has recently unveiled another ski instrument – the new SpidoLite II. “The SpidoLite II for me is the complete skeletonized experience. Four years in technology terms is a lot of...
