The house of Parmigiani Fleurier has just introduced a new reference to its Tonda Metrographe collection.
This time, the famous manufacture from Fleurier, Switzerland, presents its Tonda Metrogrape model with a gorgeous Bleu Abyss dial. The master dial-maker at the Parmigiani Fleurier manufacture creates the brand's signature Abyss blue shade in a specialist electroplating bath, with a certain current, and at a perfectly controlled temperature. She dips the support into the tank where, under the effect of electrolysis, the color is transformed from bright orange to a rust-colored brown. In the next step, the purple tones appear, and, finally, the bluish-violet hue turns Abyss blue. If the piece remained in the bath only two or three seconds more, it would have turned to royal blue, then grey.
The watch belongs to the urban-styled Métro collection, which is inspired by the spirit and magic of the world’s greatest cities. The collection includes "Métrographe" watches for men and "Métropolitaine" watches for women, both distinguished by their round steel cases with long, asymmetrical profile.
Tonda Metrogrape watches are equipped with PF310 calibres, which is a new range of in-house automatic movements equipped with the variable-inertia balance and a double barrel. The precision of the movement, and its stability overtime, is much improved since the variable-inertia balance makes it possible to adjust the moment of inertia by rotating the inertia blocks rather than adjusting the active length of the balance-spring. In addition, the double barrel system ensures more consistent distribution of power, ensuring no less than 42 hours of power reserve.
Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Metrogrape Bleu Abyss is made of stainless steel, and it measures 40mm in diameter. The case is 11, 7 mm thick and water resistant to 30 meters. The special Bleu Abyss dial features a snailed exterior, opaline center, and bright luminescent counters. The applied indexes and Delta-shaped hands are rhodium plated and coated with a luminous substance. The aesthetic of the dial uses the principle of contrasts to highlight the chronograph complication and its two minute and hour counters. On the Abyss blue dial version, the counters outlined with Superluminova material which makes them glow in low light conditions. The two counters form a slanted figure 8, which is the insignia of the Parmigiani Fleurier Brand.
The choice of bracelets for the Parmigiani Fleurier Tonda Metrogrape Bleu Abyss includes a blue calfskin Hermes bracelet, and a titanium / steel polished and satin finished bracelet.
