Parmigiani Toric Qualité Fleurier

Parmigiani Fleurier is a relatively young Swiss watchmaking brand, founded in 1996 by Michel Parmigiani. Fourteen yeas ago, Parmigiani, together with Bovet and Chopard, established the world’s most demanding watchmaking certification – the Fleurier Quality Foundation. Taking into account the timepiece in its entirety, this measure of quality combines a series of exclusive tests and requirements within a single certification. The certificate itself is actually the highest guarantee of reliable precision of a timepiece under all circumstances, its durability and finest-quality finishing.

This year, the brand is paying a tribute to the first watch created by its founder, Micher Parmigiani – the Toric – by engraving it, for the first time ever, with the Fleurier Quality stamp. In other words, it meets the following five requirements:

  • The watch is more than just Swiss Made. It is entirely designed, produced, assembled and tested in Switzerland. The "Swiss Made" label, on the other hand, can be met if 60% of the watch head has been produced in Switzerland.
  • Only traditional materials were used in production of the Toric Qualité Fleurier, and finished in accordance to the highest haute horlogerie standards. Every single component of the watch is examined by the Fleurier Quality Foundation to verify its level of craftsmanship and ensure that it does not compromise the watch's technical reliability.
  • The movement is COSC-certified
  • The watch has passed the Chronofiable test, which is performed in an independent laboratory that evaluates its reliability when exposed to shocks, wear, water and magnetism.
  • The watch has passed the Fleuritest, the computer-controlled stimulator that makes three-dimensional movements that mimic ordinary day-to-day activities. This unique wearing simulator measures the watch’s timekeeping with tolerances of between 0 and +5 seconds per day.

The Toric Qualité Fleurier retains all distinctive elements of the classic Toric. It features the model’s recognizable bezel formed of two gadroons alternating with hand-made knurling based on the proportions of the golden ratio. The dial, enhanced by solid gold appliques and javelin-shaped hands, is adorned with hand-guilloché, engraved with a rice grain pattern that reveals interplay of shadow and light. This means that every Toric case middle is completely unique, just like its dial.

The Toric Qualité Fleurier is available in either red or white gold. The watch is powered by the self-winding movement PF331-QF, beating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. Assembled from 220 components and mounted on 32 jewels, it provides its wearer with up to 55 hours of power reserve. The movement can be admired through the sapphire case back engraved with individual number and "QUALITÉ FLEURIER" inscription.

Parmigiani’s new Toric Qualité Fleurier is water resistant to 30 meters and completed with an Alligator leather strap made by Hermes. It comes with a price tag of $23,500. Parmigiani.com

Parmigiani Fleurier adds the new GMT complication to its iconic Toric collection. It was a restored timepiece that inspired the famous Swiss watchmaker to create this ultimate traveler’s timepiece. The watch is inspired by a historical pocket watch housing two separate movements – each responsible for its own time zone. Michel Parmigiani, who established the Parmigiani Fleurier manufacture in 1996, found an elegant solution to simplify this function, by constructing a single caliber that controls two time zones. The Tonda Hémisphères, which was...
