Raymond Weil collaborates with the Gibson Guitar Corporation on a limited edition timepiece.
The independent manufacture of Raymond Weil has recently revealed a very special version of its Nabucco model. This time, the musically inspired range welcomes a special limited edition timepiece, designed in collaboration with Gibson Brands, the famous American manufacturer music instruments, above all - guitars. The watch, which was officially unveiled on the occasion of the BaselWorld 2015 trade show, is inspired by the self-tuning Gibson SG Standard guitar. The watch features a recognizable Gibson logo and the iconic headstock emblem at 12 o’clock position.
The Nabucco timepiece inspired by Gibson comes in a large titanium and steel case of 46mm in diameter, which is topped with a gray ceramic tachometer bezel. The black galvanic dial is decorated with six concentric grooves, symbolizing the 6-string guitar Gibson SG Standard. The center of the dial is reserved for the chronograph subdials and the small seconds counter. All functions of this musical chronograph are powered by the caliber RW5010, which rests on 27 jewels, providing about 46 hours of power reserve. The movement has a "Raymond Weil" signed rotor, which can be admired through the sapphire case-back, and it also completes the calendar function via small round aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock. A push button at 10 o’clock serves as a date corrector.
The Nabucco Gibson chronograph is water resistant to 200 meters, and it comes on a black rubber alligator style strap with black stitching. To maintain the legibility even in the low light conditions, the Arabic numerals at 12 o’clock and applied indexes were coated in rich layers of luminous substance. The strap is fastened to the wrist with a titanium and polished steel folding clasp with double push security system.
Raymond Weil Gibson Nabucco model, reference number 7850 TIR GIBS1, is available in a 200-piece limited edition. The price for this watch will most probably be somewhere between 3000 and 4999 Swiss francs (CHF).
