Richard Mille will, for the very first time, be the Official Partner and Timekeeper of the third Spa Classic, which takes place in Belgium on 24, 25 and 26 May.
Richard Mille: The Spa-Classic is the Belgian historic motor racing festival that takes place on the prestigious Spa- Francorchamps circuit, which is acclaimed as the most beautiful circuit in the world. This year’s racing festival will feature a unique exhibition of more than 1000 club car models, a Bonhams auction, an exhibitors' village, and this year’s exclusive: the appearance of two Touring cars grids to complete the 'Spa-Classic Endurance' pole, evoking the magnificent 24 Hours of Francorchamps race.
The Spa Classic track was designed back in 1921, as one of the fastest and most spectacular tracks in the world. In the early days, the track measured 8.8 miles (14,120 km), but that has changed over the years to 4.3 miles (7,004 km), 15 corners, and the famous Raidillon-Eau Rouge where F1 drivers flow trough a hardly visible sequence of corners. Today, the Spa Classic is organized by the same team that produces the Le Mans Classic, and it allows the motor-sports enthusiasts to compete in various categories: the two CER groups, the Group C, the Sixties’ Endurance, the Trofeo Nastro Rosso, the Spa-Classic Jubilee (for Porsche 911 cars in celebration of the model’s 50th birthday), the Historic Formula 2 championship.
To mark the occasion Richard Mille is releasing a limited edition watch named RM 011 Spa Classic. This automatic timepiece is a flyback chronograph equipped with a countdown timer, an annual calendar and a rotor with variable geometry. The piece is fitted with a Caliber RMAC1 skeleton movement in PVD-treated grade 5 titanium, which is nested in microblasted case that measures 50 mm x 40 mm in proportions. The colors of the event are featured on the upper and lower flange blue, red and white. There is also the Spa Classic logo at 12 o’clock and red and white chronograph dials.
Richard Mille RM 011 Spa Classic is issued in a limited edition of 50 pieces.
