Introducing the RJ-Romain Jerome Día de los Muertos Clásico models for 2015
For the fourth consecutive year, the house of Romain Jerome celebrates the Day of the Dead (Día de Los Muertos), which is a Mexican holiday that serves to honor the lives of the deceased and to remember ancestors. In 2015, Romain Jerome introduces three new Memento Mori emblems, embellished with diamonds and rubies, as well as skull engravings on a new 34-mm case. Same as every year since the launch of the Día de Los Muertos collection, the brand honors the cultural values of Mexico with vivid timepieces inspired by the famous Calaveras – sweeties made of sugar and shaped like a human skull. Calaveras are widely used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead, to remind the living of their mortality.
This November, RJ-Romain Jerome joins Mexican festivities and tradition, and celebrates life with Día de los Muertos Clásico collection. The collection comprises three new designs in 34-mm black PVC-coated steel cases, with massive black bezels engraved with Romain Jerome’s Calaveras and filigree engraving. The sleek black dial reveals the brand’s emblematic X traverses, and a backdrop filled with engravings of the famous skull. The main Calaveras application is positioned in the center of the dial, while the decorative engravings create a distinctive sense of depth and dimension.
Romain Jerome Día de los Muertos Clásico RJ.T.AU.FM.001.05 features a black mirror-polished dial with calaveras engravings. The skull-shaped applique and traverses are set with 532 black spinels (1.515 cts) and 16 diamonds (0.0168 ct). Its black satin brushed hands are coated with superluminova C1 “blue emission.” This model is priced at USD 36,950.
Romain Jerome Día de los Muertos Clásico RJ.T.AU.FM.001.06 has a black mirror-polished dial with Calaveras engravings, and engraved traverses. The skull-shaped applique is adorned with a modern champlevé decoration, cold enameled in silver, It features16 diamonds (0.0168 ct), and a polished RJ logo applied on the dial. The model retails at 18,500.
Romain Jerome Día de los Muertos Clásico RJ.T.AU.FM.001.07 has a skull-shaped applique adorned with a modern champlevé decoration, cold enameled in silver, 16 rubies (0.032 ct). The traverses are set with 158 rubies (0.316 ct), while the black satin brushed hands feature blue emission luminous coating. The price of this model is USD $24,500.
The watches are powered by the mechanical self-winding movement RJ002-A, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The mechanism is built on 30 jewels, and it promises around 40 hours of power reserve. Each piece is mounted on a black alligator strap, and issued in a limited edition of 99 pieces per model.
