RJ-Romain Jerome introduces a new timepiece - Romain Jerome Nose Art-DNA
The RJ-Romain Jerome Nose Art–DNA watch, a new member of the Capsules collection, is inspired by air travel and combat-pilots’ secret talismans. The model is inspired by the legendary four-engine heavy bomber aircraft Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress, is introduced in two different variants, which was mainly used by the United States Army Air For the United States Army Air Forces, during the World War II, against German military targets. One of the few B -17s still in flying condition is the one nicknamed The Pink Lady, which was launched in January 1945. She was featured in many famous movies, such as “La Grande Vadrouille” from 1966, “Memphis Belle” from 1990, and most recently in the 2012 movie “Red Tails.
If you saw any of these movies, you might remember the aircraft decorated with the most compelling Nose Art of the famous pin-up girl dressed in pink – the Pink Lady Nose Art. These attractive paintings on military aircrafts (most commonly found on front fuselage) are considered some form of aircraft graffiti, and they were first used to help identify friendly units, but the habit of painting pin-up or shark designs has soon evolved to express the individuality through personalized decorations. The Nose Art became very popular, and it was widely accepted, as it helped to boost the morale of the troops. Many pilots and soldiers have developed a strong bond with their aircraft, thanks to these sophisticated graffiti that offered them some kind of psychological protection during warfare.
The new RJ-Romain Jerome Nose Art-DNA watches are designed to honor the contemporary adventurer with a timepiece that combines charismatic new military design with historical references. Each of the watches from this series is graced with an individually painted pin-up on the case-back, slipped under a transparent sapphire crystal glass. The watch body measures 46mm in diameter and it is made from either black PVD-coated steel or red gold, while the dials reveal bold green or grey camouflage pattern. The minutes and second counters, positioned at 3 and 9 o’clock, are designed by the image of a cockpit with its reading instruments, and propelled by a mechanical self-winding Valjoux based chronograph movement. The caliber RJ001-CH is built on 27 jewels, it beats at 28,800 v/h and runs on 42 hours of power reserve.
RJ-Romain Jerome Nose Art–DNA is delivered on a calf NATO strap, which is designed to prevent the watch from sliding off the wrist. The Nose Art-DNA series is composed of unique models which are issued in only 99 pieces per edition.
