For the SIHH 2014 exhibition, six new iterations of the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph 42mm are being launched.
This year is announced as the year of the Royal Oak Offshore, a model that has been introduced to the watch scene back in 1993. For 2014, Audemars Piguet presents six new versions of the famous sporty wristwatch, the Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph. The new watches are sculpted in a 42mm case-diameter, which is now boasting more technical look. The brand has used some innovative materials, such as black or white ceramic, but the main design features are left unchanged: the iconic octagonal oversized case and the “Mega Tapisserie” motif on the dial.

The new references of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph are available in stainless steel or 18-carat pink gold. The major changes to the design are visible in the shape of the pushpiece guards, the crown and the pushers. As you can see, the brand now uses black ceramic, instead of rubber, on the crown and pushpieces, which contributes to a more modern look. The bezels are satin-brushed and polished, traditionally secured with eight steel hexagonal screws. The dials with Mega Tapisserie look are highlighted with more pronounced hour-markers, which are bringing a distinctive technical touch to the watch face. The small improvements regarding the readability include the new faceted hands, the polished fillets around the hour markers, and the use of super-bright luminescent coating.

The major change is made on the inside of the watch, where the in-house caliber Caliber 3126 replaces the Caliber 2326. The movement is revealed through the sapphire case-back, where it shows its engraved 22-carat gold oscillating mass decorated with the Audemars and Piguet family crests. The movement is built on 365 parts and 59 jewels, it beats at a frequency 21,600 vph and provides about 55 hours of power reserve.

Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph models for 2014 are mounted on a rubber or alligator strap, which now features a broader taper and a new pin buckle.
