One of the new Royal Oak Offshore models, which were introduced at this year’s SIHH exhibition, is the Royal Oak Offshore Diver crafted from white ceramics.
Audemars Piguet is expanding its prestigious Royal Oak Offshore Diver collection with a new marble made from a sturdy, ultra-resistant high-tech material – white ceramic. The white ceramic model perfectly blends with the Royal Oak Offshore range, which also includes steel or black ceramic iterations of the famous diver. The new Diver is water resistant to 300 meters and it arrives in the very same, emblematic octagonal case with decorative screws. The watch is fitted with a time pre-selection device (NIHS 92-11 norm) and topped by a unidirectional ratcheted device connected to a crown at 10 o’clock. Once the crown is set and screwed-in again, the watch is protected from any accidental turning of the inner bezel or changing the dive time.
What makes this watch really exquisite is the choice of material that is used for the case, bezel, pushers, and crowns. The super-white forged ceramic scores no less than 1850 on the Vickers hardness test, which makes it more than nine times harder than steel and more than 500 Vickers harder than the black ceramic used last year. This also results in a particularly long and difficult manufacturing process, as it now takes about 12 hours to make a mid-case, and about 8 hours to make a bezel. As a result, the new Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver is almost completely scratchproof.
The Royal Oak Offshore Diver in white ceramic features a titanium caseback fitted with a sapphire window. It reveals the glory of the in-house Calibre 3120, and showcases its beautifully decorated 22-carat golden rotor. The self-winding movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and runs on at least 60 hours of power reserve. The watch face exposes the recognizable Méga Tapisserie motif on the dial, along with hands and indices that are generously coated in luminous material.
The Royal Oak Offshore Diver in white ceramics will be available only through Audemars Piguet boutiques. This exclusive model is priced at $23,900.
