Richard Mille, the official partner the Lotus F1 Team since 2013, presents its new limited edition wristwatch - the RM 50-01 G Sensor Lotus F1 Team Romain Grosjean
The 2013 season for the Lotus F1 Team was marked by signing a two-year deal with the famous Swiss watchmaker Richard Mille. The internationally renowned watchmaker has thus became the Official Timing Partner to the famous racing team, and it now presents the new limited edition wristwatch designed to highlight this collaboration. The watch was announced in 2013 as a creation that blends the philosophies of both the team and Richard Mille. The brand has promised to create an exceptional lightweight watch using the contemporary materials and cutting edge technogy.
On the occasion of the SIHH 2014, Richard Mille presents the first tourbillon watch dedicated to the Lotus F1 team, and especially to its driver Romain Grosjean, who was born in Geneva. This exceptional sporty timepiece is powered by the manual winding tourbillon chronograph caliber with mechanical G-force sensor. The movement was constructed to provide a long-term reliability and avoid any excessive waste of energy and motion. The transmission and the regularity of power are optimized through the newly designed barrel and pinion teeth profiles, and thanks to the use of new materials such as titanium. The innovative solution promises extraordinary stability and improves the efficiency of the movement.
The RM 50-01 movement is equipped with a function indicator that shows whether the movement is in Winding, Neutral or Handsetting mode. The major component of the movement is its G-force sensor complication that translates the movement of a small internal mechanism to an indicator that visually shows the sum of G’s accumulated by the wearer during rapid decelerations. The complex G-sensor indicator, that requires no less than 500 components, is placed at 12 o’clock.
Richard Mille RM 50-01 G Sensor Lotus F1 Team Romain Grosjean is crafted from carbon NTPT, which consists of more than 600 layers, each only 30 microns thick. The layers are made from woven carbon filaments that are compressed and heated for strength and firmness. The watch is available with a choice of caseband in 5N red gold or carbon NTPT.
Richard Mille RM 50-01 G Sensor Lotus F1 Team Romain Grosjean is launched in a limited edition of only 30 watches worldwide. Each piece of this limited series will be delivered with a hand-assembled 1/5th scale model of the 2014 Lotus F1 racing car.
