BaselWorld 2017
At BaselWorld 2017, the house of Tudor introduced new models to its highly successful Heritage Black Bay line. Among them the all new Tudor Heritage Black Chronograph, a watch that unites dive functions with a brand new manufacture chronograph with self-winding movement, column wheel, and vertical clutch! At the same time, the new Heritage Chrono model remains faithful to the line of the watches that represents a free interpretation of the brand’s first chronograph dating from 1970. It combines key aesthetics from history with modern day watchmaking.
The new hybrid timepiece, Heritage Black Bay Chrono, combines the aquatic heritage of the Black Bay family with the queen of the racetrack, the chronograph. In addition to the competitive price point, the new model offers elegant and clean design, combined with superior readability. Faithful to the Black Bay aesthetics, the new model features the famous snowflake hands, which have been emblematic of the brand ever since 1969.
Presented in a steel case with 41-millimeter diameter, the Black Bay chronograph features a domed matt black dial and slightly hollowed sub-counters, ensuring optimum contrast and legibility. A date aperture is located at 6 o’clock position. A fixed bezel in circular satin-brushed steel is engraved with tachymetric scale, while the chronograph pushers evoke the look of the first generation of Tudor chronographs.
Tudor Heritage Black Bay Chronograph is powered by the Manufacture Calibre MT5813, which is a self-winding mechanical movement with the bidirectional rotor system. This COSC-certified chronometer beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers about 70 hours of power reserve. The movement is sealed against the ingress of water to 200 meters of depth.
Tudor Heritage Black Bay Chronograph is mounted on a denim-style strap woven on 19th century Jacquard looms by a 150-year-old family firm from the region of Saint-Étienne. In addition to the complimentary navy blue denim-style strap that comes with every Heritage Black Bay Chrono, there is a choice of two distinct bracelets: a steel one inspired by the folding riveted bracelets of the Tudor watches produced in the 1950’s and 1960’s, and a brown leather strap.
The Tudor Heritage Black Bay Chronograph (ref. 79350) is priced at CHF 4,500 on a strap and CHF 4,800 on a bracelet. More details at tudor.com.
