The house of Ulysse Nardin introduces the Marine 1846 model, a watch inspired by the rich heritage of the luxury watch manufacturer, and named after the year in which the Ulysse Nardin Company was first established. Paying homage to Ulysse Nardin’s past, the upscale watch brand has released a new version of one of its beautiful classics. The Marine 1846 is based on the legendary model from 1996, which was first introduced to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Ulysse Nardin enterprise. In its modern-day rendition, the iconic Marine 1846 has been updated with Ulysse Nardin’s signature silicium technology and a majestic Grand Feu enamel dial.
The new Ulysse Nardine Marine 1846 is powered by the in-house produced self-winding chronometer movement UN-118, which is made in collaboration with Sigatec in Sion, Switzerland. The cutting-edge movement incorporates DIAMonSIL components, made from silicium and man-made diamond, which makes it possible to eliminate friction and any need for lubrication of the escapement. Caliber 118 features a DIAMonSIL escapement and the in-house-produced oscillator adjustable with four screws and fitted with a silicium 1.1.1 hairspring. The movement offers 60 hours of power reserve, and a forward and backward quick-set date function.
Just like its predecessor, the new Ulysse Nardin Marine 1846 features a vintage design, even though it comes in a slightly larger 41mm case. This time, the watch features a crisp white enamel dial studded with Roman numerals. It provides an elegant backdrop for a full array of indications, including the small seconds, date, and power reserve. The historic marine chronometer hands and logo are visible from the front, while the-case back reveals proudly listed gold medals won by historic Ulysse Nardin timepieces.
