Audemars Piguet Millenary Hand-wound Minute Repeater, a unique Christmas Gift

The oldest horological complication, the audible indication of time, is a core of this sophisticated minute repeater and grand strike model. This outstanding watch is crafted in oval case. The outstanding three-dimensional architecture reveals the essentials of its refined movement a new Audemars Piguet escapement, a double balance-spring, as well as the striking mechanism and its gongs.

The watch comes equipped with a non water-resistant dial, colored in anthracite grey. The off-centered display is completed with applied pink gold Roman numerals and skeletonized hour and minutes hands. The small seconds are ticking away in a silvered counter, located in the lower part of the dial, while th minute repeater slide activator is featured at 7 o'clock.

The watch utilizes the new hand-wound Calibre 2910 driving the Millenary Minute Repeater composed of not one balance- spring, but of two balance-springs placed top to tail. This flat opposite-facing double balance-spring system prides with great advantages: it ensures automatic compensation for potential poising flaws and eliminates the need for the "overcoil" terminal curves of so-called "Breguet-type" balance-springs, which are always very tricky to make. The core beats at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour.

The Millenary Minute Repeater is equipped with a balance-stop system designed to ensuring time- setting that is accurate to the nearest second, and provides seven days of power reserve.
