It seems like Audemars Piguet choose Djokovic with perfect timing but, according to an unofficial rumor from the watch industry, Audemars Piguet have missed their chance to capture Djokovic at Wimbledon last year. At that time, Djokovic asked one of the specialized journalists in both tennis and watches to discuss the possibilities for sponsorship with Audemars Piguet, but the brand show no interest in sponsoring tennis players. Meanwhile, Djokovic has been ranked the World No. 1 by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) (since 4 July 2011), and then is when Audemars Piguet finally decided to make him an ambassador. An obvious conclusion is that the Swiss brand now had to pay much more for the sponsorship contract. True or not, we can probably look forward to Audemars Piguet tennis watch, as the brand has finally shown their interest in net sport.

As you can see on the leading picture, Novak wore Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore Diver watch in the US Open finals. This watch was issued in 2010 and retails for about $17,000. It comes in 42mm-wide steel case with vulcanized rubber details and an exclusive rubber strap. The watch boasts traditional Royal Oak lines, the same octagonal case and emblematic Mega Tapisserie dial, which now further enhanced to meet the expectations set for a real diver’s watch. The watch complies with ISO 6425, the international standard for diver’s watches, and offers luminous markers, rotating timing bezel, antireflective coating on the sapphire crystal and even slightly different baton-shaped hands, to make them highly distinguishable from each other. The case conceals AP’s manufacture 3120 automatic movement with a 60-hour power reserve and a 22-carat gold rotor. The Royal Oak Offshore Diver is water resistant to 300 meters underwater and comes under the reference number 15703ST.OO.A002CA.01.
