Anonimo, the official timekeeper of the FIA World Rally Championship in Italy, unveils the new special series chronograph – the WRC Special Edition.
The sporty new timepiece, the latest member of Anonimo’s Militare collection, is actually the brand’s very first motorsport inspired watch. Housed in a robust, cushion-shaped stainless steel case measuring 43.3 mm in diameter, the WRC Special Edition sports a grey hand-brushed dial with neon green highlights, evocative of the colors of the World Championship.
The most distinctive detail is the winding crown, located at 12 o’clock, just as it would be on a pocket watch. The crown protection system and a patented hinge are there to ensure no less than 120 meters of water resistance. The chronograph pushers, coated in black, are classically positioned at the right side of the case, at 2 and 4 o’clock, with the start pusher highlighted in neon green. A fixed black bezel encircles the watch revealing an engraved tachymeter scale that might come handy for measuring a speed based on travel time or distance based on speed.
The highly legible, vertically brushed dial, features Anonimo’s signature oversized numerals 04-08-12, as well as the brightly colored 30-minute counter and the central seconds hand. All of its versatile functions are powered by the Swiss made Sellita SW300 movement with a Dubois Dépraz 2035M module developed exclusively for Anonimo. This automatic winding mechanism is mounted on 49 jewels, it beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph (4Hz), and provides a minimum of 42 hours of power reserve. Finally, a sporty strap made of Cordura effect fireproofed fabric completes the motorsport-inspired creation.
The Anonimo WRC Special Edition was unveiled a couple of weeks ago, on the occasion of the the 7th stage of the 2018 WRC championship that took place in Sardinia. The watch is a special (non-limited) edition, and it comes with a price tag of CHF 5,250.
