Ateliers deMonaco celebrates the first anniversary of its Tourbillon Oculus 1297 collection with two new, sporty-elegant models, crafted from black titanium. The most distinctive element of the collection, which is said to be inspired by Monaco’s coat of arms, the emblem of the House of Grimaldi, are its dials composed of small lozenges in relief. For this special occasion, the Geneva-based watch manufacturer retains all of the distinctive features of the Tourbillon Oculus 1297 range, but, for the first time ever, houses the movement in an ultra-light black DLC titanium case.
The all-black Tourbillon Oculus 1297 comes in two distinct variants distinguished by a small dial at 12 o’clock or in rose white gold. The pieces are equipped with the in-house caliber dMc-980, which has been designed, developed, built and assembled in the Ateliers deMonaco manufacture. The patented tourbillon movement is called Tourbillon XP1, and it stands as one of the most precise in the world. Its outstanding performance relies on a tolerance between 0 to 2 seconds per 24 hours. Both new watches have the Ateliers deMonaco signature 22-karat gold rotor engraved with the Principality of Monaco crown.
For the signature dial, Ateliers deMonaco has used a new technology – a five axis laser, which doesn’t burn the metal, but gently and precisely enhances its features by giving it a desired form. The mention of the Maison is also written on the rim of the dial dominated by a large opening on the tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock.
Both new models are mounted on a black alligator leather strap adorned with a hand-stitched and folding buckle in titanium black DLC. For both of them, the case measures 44mm in diameter and 13,1mm in thickness, and is water resistant to 30 meters.
Ateliers deMonaco Tourbillon Oculus 1297 Black Titanium, reference dMc-TB-OCG-RLW-TIB, is limited to 88 pieces worldwide and it retails at 62.100 CHF. For more information, please visit ateliers-demonaco.com.
