Carl F Bucherer is launching a special limited edition Manero Tourbillon, a model that was for the very first time unveiled on the occasion of Baselworld 2013.
Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition is the very first tourbillon in the Manero line of watches, and this special limited edition is aimed to highlight the craftsmanship of this high-end manufacture. The construction and implementation of tourbillon is one of the most demanding watchmaking procedures, and only a small number of highly skilled houses are able to realize this type of complication in a watch. For Carl F. Bucherer, Manero Tourbillon is a symbol of success in its niche, and a genuine expression of its passion for the art of watchmaking.
Tourbillon stands out from the rest of the watch complication because it not only improves the accuracy of the timepiece, but also embellishes the watch from the watch face, revealing the delicate workings of the balance wheel, and rotations of the cage. The very first tourbillon was developed in the late 18th century, by the famous French-Swiss watchmaker Breguet. The whole idea behind this innovation was to create something that would counter the effects of gravity when the timepiece is stuck in a certain position. For example, the hairspring, which is a timing regulator for the escapement, is very sensitive to even the most subtle exterior effects. Gravity can make a strong impact on the hairspring - but also on the pallet fork and the balance wheel - thus reducing the accuracy of the movement over time.
In tourbillons, the escapement and balance wheel are mounted in a rotating cage, which forces the escapament to turn around its own axis. The gravity affects all parts of the movement differently, depending on the position of the watch. However, when these components are rotating in a cage, the forces of gravity are minimized because they are rotating and turning through all possible vertical positions during the revolution of the cage.
On Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition, the tourbillon is shown through the opening in the dial, positioned at 6 o'clock. From the center, the date is indicated by a hand, while the numerals of the date scale change orientation at 3 and 9 o’clock. The 9 o'clock position is a stage for the power reserve indication, while the 24-hour indication appears at 12 o’clock. The case is crafted from 18-carat rose gold and it measures 41,80mm in diameter. The case back, fitted with a sapphire crystal, provides the opportunity to admire the inner watch movement.
Carl F Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition is powered by CFB T1001 movement, which provides about 70 hours of power reserve. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters and it arrives mounted on a hand-stitched Louisiana alligator leather strap.
Carl F Bucherer Manero Tourbillon Limited Edition is available in 188 pieces worldwide, marked with a reference number 00.10918.03.13.01. Each of these rare valuable exemplars is priced at 84,500 Euro.
