In a couple of days, at BaselWorld 2014, Chopard will release its new Grand Prix de Monaco Historique model, which features a fresh new, updated look.
In 2014, Chopard is launching the seventh watch of the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph series, a vibrant new sporty piece featuring an eye-catching black & yellow color scheme. Same as the previously released models, the new Monaco Historique Chronograph celebrates the partnership between Chopard and the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique race. For this year, the collection welcomes a fresh color scheme, which supervenes upon the iconic racing orange, along with a bit of subtle design modifications, but without compromising the recognizable Monaco Historique look.
Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph Yellow/Black for 2014 is a bit larger than its predecessors. The new model arrives in a slightly larger case, which now measures 44.5mm in diameter, instead of the customary 42.5mm. In line with the changes, the lugs have also been slightly redesigned, to maintain a comfortable wear. The case is, this year, crafted from titanium, as well as the pushers and the crown, which features a steering wheel motif. Even though the rest of the watch is titanium, the bezel on the 2014 model is actually made of stainless steel, and it features an aluminum insert.
A look at the silver-toned snailed dial reveals many new modifications such as the black-coated luminescent hands, improved readability (mainly due to the color scheme), the new Arabic numeral minute markers and an innovative flange ring. As for the interior of the watch, Chopard’s Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph Yellow/Black for 2014 utilizes a COSC-certified Swiss ETA Valjoux 7750 automatic chronograph movement, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides about 44 hours of power reserve. This exceptional movement, introduced all the way back in 1979, is still considered one of the most successful automatic chronograph movements of all times. Its functions include hours, minutes, small seconds counter at 9 o’clock, 60-second chronograph, 30-minute and 12-hour counters, and a date indicator at 3 o’clock.
Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph for 2014 will be offered in three different strap/bracelet options: the perforated black barenia leather strap with yellow stitching, the black and yellow NATO strap, and the metal bracelet option. More official information about Chopard Grand Prix de Monaco Historique Chronograph for 2014 will be available in a couple of days, after the BaselWorld 2014 exhibition. The price for this model is expected to be around $7,600 US. The model is referenced as 168570-3001.
