Introducing the first L.U.C watch that features a dual-time function built into the movement
The house of Chopard introduces L.U.C GMT One, a watch for gentlemen globetrotters that provides a dual-time read-off with an integrated GMT function. The new model joining the celebrated L.U.C collection is a perfect companion for frequent travelers. Powered by an original L.U.C 01.10-L calibre, the watch is issued in celebration of the 20th anniversary of the founding of Chopard’s Manufacture in Fleurier. This is the first L.U.C watch that features a dual-time function built into the movement. Its main function is to indicate a second time zone, and inform the wearer of the watch about the exact time in any place of the world. In addition, it makes it easy for the traveler to adjust to local time while keeping track of home time.
This extraordinary new model is issued in two distinct variants. The more contemporary version features a stainless steel case with a sunburst black dial and a slate grey inner flange that shows the 24 hours of a day. The white print shows daytime hours, while the orange transfer indicates the night hours. The other, more classic version of the model is crafted from 18-carat rose gold variation is embraced by a part-brown, part-white ring, providing a clear contrast between daytime and night-time.
A prominent crown located at the side of the case, at 2 o’clock, serves to adjust the date and local time. The second crown, which appears at the 4 o’clock position, is associated with the large baton-type hand with an arrow-shaped tip that points to the second time zone. A date indicator appears in a rectangular aperture at 6 o’clock position.
Chopard L.U.C GMT One is powered by the new Chopard Manufacture self-winding Calibre L.U.C 01.10-L, which operates on a 60-hour power reserve. The movement is assembled from 291 individual components and 31 jewels, and it operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. This chronometer certified mechanism is housed in a large round case of 42 mm in diameter. The case measures 11.71 mm in thickness, and it is water resistant to 50 meters of depth. The exhibition case-back allows the wearer to admire the fine finishing of the movement, including its chamfered components and bridges adorned with Côtes de Genève. The watches are mounted on matching alligator leather straps with alligator leather lining and steel or gold pin buckles.
The L.U.C GMT One in stainless steel, reference 168579-3001, retails at $9,500, while the rose gold model, reference 161943-5001, costs $19,200. Available at Chopard.com.
