In celebration of the Chinese Year of the Dragon, Chopard unveils a quite original version of L.U.C Tourbillon, featuring a special dragon-motif decoration on movement bridges.
The finishing is done using the technique of fillet engraving (gravure à filet) which is one of the most rarely used, and almost extinct traditional engraving styles. It originates from the village of Fleurier in Canton Neuchâtel, where Choprad manufacture has been established since 1996. Fillet engraving is distinguished by raised decorations created on various metal surfaces, typically on gold movement bridges. This artistic craft differs from other decoration techniques by the fact that the engraver creates a motif by sculpting it rather than engraving it. The specialist in fillet engraving creates various shapes by removing the surrounding material, until the desired form emerges from the gold.

The new Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon Dragon is crafted in 18-carat rose gold and presented in 39.50-mm diameter case. The face reveals very elegant guilloché silvered dial with golden hands, Roman numerals and indices. There is central hour and minutes display, small seconds embedded in the tourbillon cage at 6 o’clock, and a useful power reserve indicator at 12 o’clock. The watch utilizes hand-wound tourbillon movement L.U.C 02.02-L, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and provides astonishing 9 days of power reserve.

The case back reveals gorgeously decorated bridges adorned with dragon motif in a fillet technique, as well as the Poinçon de Genève quality hallmark. Needless to say, the watch is a COSC certified chronometer, which stands for its superior reliability and precision.
Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon Dragon is a special edition watch offered in a limited series of only eight pieces. The watch is available only in rose gold version, mounted on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap in brown color. Chopard L.U.C Tourbillon Dragon it comes under the reference number 161869-5003.
