Famous Swiss watches and jewellery manufacture - Chopard - just released a new model. This exciting novelty is outstanding by all means, as it presents the world’s first tourbillon with a triple Swiss certification.
The Chopard LUC Triple-Certification Tourbillon bears the COSC certificate, the famous Poinçon de Genève (or the Geneva Seal), as well as Qualité Fleurier, a certification that stands for superior aesthetic and technical characteristics of a true high-end watch. These three certifications are the most prestigious in the world of Haute Horlogerie.
The Chopard’s L.U.C Triple Certification Tourbillon is crafted in 18-carat rose gold and comes in a nicely curved round case. The case and the lugs are polished and satin-brushed, and completely redesigned to mark a new era for the L.U.C collection. The change is especially noticeable on the crown, which now appears slimmer but still remains engraved with the L.U.C. insignia. Another thing that remains the same is the superior readability of the watch: the silver-grained dial makes a nice contrast with the rhodiumed black Dauphine-hands and applied Roman numerals. Time markers are inspired by the 1960s and arranged along the minute track.
The case measures 43 mm in diameter and 11.15 mm in thickness. It is water resistant to 50 meters and protected by glare-proofed sapphire crystal. The case-back is also transparent, so that the wearer can admire beautifully decorated movement.
The watch is propelled by the hand-wound in-house Manufacture L.U.C Calibre 02-13-L (L.U.C 1.02QF), which is the only movement in the world equipped with four stacked barrels. Owing to this technical innovation, the watch provides no less than 9 days/216 hours of autonomy. The movement also allows for central hour and minutes indication, a power reserve display at the top of a dial, and small seconds complication, embedded in the tourbillon cage. The watch is issued in a limited edition of only 100 exemplars. It is mounted on a dark brown alligator strap with a buckle made of pink gold and priced at about CHF120,000 or 130'250 $.
