Chopard, the brand known as one of the pioneers in the development of sustainable luxury, introduces a new limited edition L.U.C timepiece crafted from ethical gold. This ultra thin model, made of Fairmined gold, contributes to better working and living conditions of the miners who extract the raw material.
In 2013, together with the South American NGO Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM), Chopard started its long-term project “The Journey to Sustainable Luxury.” The goal of the Journey is to support gold mining communities around the world towards achieving Fairmined certification. The Fairmined label ensures that small-scale mining communities, in which both miners and the environment are properly treated, extract gold in a responsible manner. The buyers of Fairmined luxury products pay a premium that is appropriately reinvested in community projects and environmental protection.
The new L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined is not only crafted from ethical gold, but also stamped with the prestigious Fleurier Quality Foundation label. The watch is distinguished by its slate gray dial stamped with a sunburst texture that stands out against the rose gold case. The texture of the dial is said to be inspired by the raw composition of gold nuggets extracted from mines.
The crown and the small seconds sub-dial are respectively off-centered at 4 and 7 o’clock, endowing the watch with a subtle asymmetric appeal. Elegantly proportioned to 40.00 mm in diameter, the L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined is only 7.20 mm thick. Its slender case features satin-brushed finishes on the sides, complemented by a polished case-back and bezel.
The Chopard L.U.C XPS Twist QF Fairmined is powered by a self-winding movement: L.U.C Calibre 96.09-L equipped with two barrels, wound by a 22-carat gold micro-rotor in 22-carat gold ensuring a comfortable 65-hour power reserve.
The watch is mounted on a satin-brushed finishes on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap, dyed with plant-based pigments – in matt black for the main part and cognac-colored for the lining.
