On the occasion of the BaselWorld 2015 trade show, Chopard’s famous Mille Miglia collection welcomes three new, entirely redesigned models: a three-hand and date chronometer, a power reserve and a chronograph.
The new members of the Mille Miglia GTS (for Grand Turismo Sport), have been completely redesigned to house, for the first time ever, a Chopard movement. The chronometer and power-reserve models are now fitted with a Chopard movement, which is developed and designed in workshops of Fleurier Ebauches, while the sophisticated design, distinguished by the Classic Racing spirit, remains true to the DNA of the timepieces published out over the past 25 years.
The new Chopard Mille Miglia GTS models, with their masculine profile, are strongly inspired by the classic cars that participated in the Mille Miglia race from 1940 to 1957. All three models are crafted from stainless steel, featuring a 43 mm diameter for the Automatic and Power Control versions and 44 mm for the Chrono version. For the first time ever, these Mille Miglia watches are powered by a Chopard movement, calibers 01.01-C and 01.08-C. The movements are automatically wound, certified by the COSC, and endowed with 60 hours of power reserve.
The new Mille Miglia GTS Automatic, Power Control and Chrono watches are designed to be worn as supplementary navigation instruments. Their bezels are fitted with a graduated black aluminum insert, which recalls their sporty nature. To pay a tribute to the aesthetics of vintage car dashboards, the dials are highlighted with red and white accents. They also feature the inscription “Chronometer,” which reminds us that the piece was tested and certified to meet the highest precision standards.
The power-reserve indicator on the Power Control model, is shaped like a petrol gauge of the 1950s, while its date aperture appears in the Mille Miglia red-arrow race logo, evoking the numbers on the doors and bonnets of the competing cars. The Automatic and Power Control versions have oversized 6 and 12 numbers painted in Superluminova, recalling the dashboards of classic cars. The watches are available with a steel bracelet or rubber strap, or in rose gold with a rubber strap that recalls the Dunlop tyres of 1960s.

Chopard Mille Miglia GTS Automatic is available in either steel or 18-carat rose gold. The watch measures 43mm in diameter, and it is water resistant to 100 meters. The front is protected with a glare proof sapphire crystal, while the exhibition case-back bears the inscription ‘Mille Miglia’ and ‘Brescia > Roma > Brescia’. The watch utilizes a mechanical self-winding movement Chopard 01.01-C, which beats at 28,800 vibrations per hour and promises up to 60 hours of power reserve.

Mille Miglia GTS Chrono is the largest watch in the collection. Its steel or 18-carat rose gold case measures 44mm in diameter. The watch is powered by COSC-certified mechanical, self-winding chronograph movement, which beats at a frequency of 28,800 vph. The mechanism promises around 48 hours of power reserve, and up to 100 meters of water resistance.
