Introducing the De Bethune DBS, DBSW, Unique Timepiece for Only Watch 2015
The famous independent watch manufacture, De Bethune, renews its support for the Only Watch charity auction. The young, fine-watchmaking brand is presenting an exceptional, one-off version of its high-tech DBS model. The unique rendition of the DBS celebrates 10th anniversary of this exceptional model of innovative design. In 2005, the DBS set on foot of what has now become one of the most respected Research and Development laboratories of the watch industry. This year, it returns as one-of-a kind model that repeats some of the emblematic design elements of the classic DBS, while introducing a couple of technical innovations.
The unique De Bethune DBS for Only Watch 2015 is crafted from white gold. It features the distinctive cone-shaped lower lugs, and measures 45mm across at its widest point. The winding crown is placed at 12 o’clock position, while a pivoting gold plate connects the upper section of the strap and the case middle. The case accommodates the Caliber DB2115 that offers a six day power reserve, thanks to its self-regulating twin barrel. The movement also features the silicon/white gold balance and its balance-spring with flat terminal curve, ensuring an optimal frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. All of these elements are Manufacture De Bethune patented innovations.
The watch face provides a view onto the gorgeously decorated caliber. The finely grained titanium annular bridge captures the admirer’s attention, while creating a shiny contrasting backdrop for the mechanical ballet of the silicon annular balance at 6 o’clock. The blue elements that stand out prominently against the anthracite deltoid-shaped bridges, have been hand-polished and blued using the centuries-old flame-bluing technique.
This special version of De Bethune’s DBS model features a red dot at 12 o’clock, which not only mingles with the blue indicators, but also features as a flamboyant nod to the Principality of Monaco. The silver-toned minutes ring is graced with Côtes De Bethune finishes, and framed with mirror-polished steel rings.
De Bethune DBS Unique Timepiece will be auctioned on the occasion of the 6th edition of Only Watch, which takes place on November the 7th, 2015, in Geneva. For more information, please visit onlywatch.com.
