Harry Winston Project Z12

Marina Milojević | 07.08.18 | 03:49 AM

Harry Winston adds to its Project Z collection of technically demanding, architectural, avant-grade timepieces. The successful range, launched in 2004, has been around for no less than 14 years now. The Z refers to Zalium, a zirconium-based alloy developed by Harry Winston’s son. This durable yet lightweight, hypoallergenic and resistant to corrosion material is used to make cases for all Project Z watches. Today, Harry Winston unveils the 12th watch in the Project Z series, a modern timepiece of a concentric, highly architectural design, equipped with a brand new complication.

 Harry Winston Project Z12

Unlike its predecessors of asymmetrical, imbalanced design, the Harry Winston Project Z12 features a neat, symmetrical dial featuring concentric levels of indicators. Two jumping hands, positioned just below a large openwork blue bridge, dominate the center of the dial. The hands travel over a 140-degree arc, and when each reaches the end of its journey, 26 times a day, it jumps back to the starting position. The upper portion of the central disc indicates the hours, while the bottom part shows the minutes. The date is displayed on a sapphire disc with transferred numerals 1-31 located on the edge of a dial. A small rectangular luminescent plate moves beneath its surface to illuminate the current date.

 Harry Winston Project Z12

The large arched bridge, dominating the center of the dial, made of transversal reinforcements, evokes the underlying structures of Manhattan’s bridges, recalling the Harry Winston’s New York City heritage. The Harry Winston insignia appears at the center of the bridge, while three arches surrounding the crown replicate the entrance of Harry Winston’s historic Fifth Avenue Flagship Salon. The blue of the bridge reflects on the calfskin strap adorned with a unique motif reminiscent of a denim weave.

 Harry Winston Project Z12

The large 42.2 mm-wide case houses the brand new HW3306 automatic-winding movement, exclusively developed for Project Z12. The caliber is equipped with a silicon balance spring and wound by Harry Winston’s signature white gold openwork rotor. Assembled from 332 and 35 jewels, the movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, ensuring a minimum of 72 hours of power reserve.

The exclusive new Harry Winston Project Z12 is available in a limited edition of 300 pieces. Price upon request at harrywinston.com.
