Harry Winston’s iconic Project Z saga continues on its radical path with a special new Project Z13 watch. This year’s edition combines an architectural structure with the most romantic complication in watchmaking – a moon phase display. Designed to simultaneously project impressions of asymmetry and order, Project Z13 retains the collection’s signature design elements. At 12 o’clock is the traditional openworked dial with its decentered hours and minutes. The 6 o’clock position is reserved for a moon phase display that reveals the house’s recognizable Shuriken symbol. In addition Harry Winston’s exclusive moon is not circular, but dodecagonal in shape.
The watch also features a retrograde date, which stretches along the blue inner bezel on the lower half of the dial. This particular shade of blue, symbolic of the House of Harry Winston, is present on the hands, the moon display background, the date area, and the Harry Winston emerald located at 12 o’clock. It is also visible in the topstitching of the black rubber-and-calfskin strap.
Faithful to the Project Z range, the 13th rendition of the Project Z watch is made of Zalium, Harry Winston’s signature alloy that makes this watch both lightweight and sturdy. In addition, for the first time ever, the Project Z timepiece features elements made of carbon – four arms that hold the moon cover and the outer section of the chapter ring. The case measures 42.2 in diameter and 5.37 in thickness. It is water resistant to 10 bar, which is around 100 meters.
This contemporary sporty model is powered by the automatic caliber HW3202, which beats at a frequency of 4Hz and provides around 68 hours of power reserve. Its white gold rotor and fine finishing - including radial Côtes de Genève, graining, and rhodium plating - can be admired through the sapphire case-back.
