Jaeger-LeCoultre has developed an entirely new collection inspired by its iconic Memovox Polaris watch from 1968. The new product family, aimed at active today’s men, debuts with five sporty-elegant models: a three-hand automatic, a chronograph and a chronograph world time, as well as two models with a stronger vintage feel: the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date and the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox.
All five models of the new collection, including the special limited edition paying tribute to the 50th anniversary of the Memovox watch, are powered by the in-house mechanical movements. The design and the aesthetics are deeply rooted in the Maison’s watchmaking tradition. For example, the dial architecture combines different finished with a Memovox Polaris-inspired center with a sunray finish. The Maison’s logo is applied, as well as the classic Arabic numbers and the contemporary trapezoidal indexes.
The hands are filled with Super-LumiNova on all models, but two of them, those with a stronger vintage feel, feature a vanilla-colored luminant as an homage to the look of Tritium featured on the original Memovox Polaris. While the original model was available only with a black dial, the Polaris is also offered with an ocean blue dial.
The cases of the new models are feature a combination of brushed and hand-polished surfaces. Each of them has a thin, round bezel, and crown redesigned for a better grip. A freshly designed three-link metal bracelet completes the look of the collection, and is interchangeable for both alligator and leather calfskin.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Automatic is crafted from stainless steel and measures 41mm in diameter. The case is fitted with two crowns, which is exclusive to the Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris collection, one for time setting and one for the inner rotating bezel for tracking elapsed time.
Available with a black or ocean blue dial with three different finishes sunray, grained and opaline. The Polaris Automatic is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 898/1 and it offers around 40 hours of power reserve. Water resistant to 100 meters, it features interchangeable straps with a new folding buckle.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph is the sportiest watch in the collection. Equipped with a tachymeter bezel, this 42mm-wide chronograph allows its wearer to calculate the speed over a fixed distance. The watch is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 751, which comes with a generous amount of power reserve – 65 hours. Available with a black or blue dial, and water resistant to 100 meters.
The Polaris Chronograph is also available in rose gold, paired with an anthracite dial and an oscillating weight in rose gold.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Chronograph WT features the in-house developed world time complication, which makes it an ideal choice for frequent travelers. The 44mm-wide titanium case features two chronograph pushers and an additional crown at 10 o’clock for manipulating the rotating city disc.
The watch is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 752 automatic mechanical movement, which comes with a 65 hours of power reserve. Water resistant to 100 meters and available in a choice of black or ocean blue dial.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Date uses the same design codes as the original Polaris from 1968: Vanilla Super-LumiNova™*, the triangle along with trapezoidal indices mixed with four Arabic numbers, a railway track for the minutes, and a date aperture at 3 o’clock.
The 42mm-wide stainless steel case features a glass box where the crystal is raised, while the solid case-back reveals an engraving of a scuba diver – a motif inspired by the engraving that was found on the inner case back of the 1968 model.
One of the crown is used for setting the time, while the other is for the inner rotating bezel. This particular model is water resistant to 200 meters, and it comes with a new rubber strap with Clous de Paris pattern. A three-link bracelet is also available for this model. The Polaris date is powered by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Caliber 899/1, and it offers 38 hours of power reserve.
Finally, Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox, issued in a limited edition comprising 1000 exemplars in steel, is designed to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Memovox. The model is equipped with the iconic alarm function made famous by the 1968 Memovox Polaris watch. The watch features the emblematic three-crown design where one crown is for setting the alarm, one for the inner rotating bezel, and one for setting the time.
The all black dial reveals vanilla-colored Super-LumiNova, trapezoidal indices, four Arabic numerals, and the triangle in the center of the dial serving as the alarm indicator. The model is equipped with the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 956, which features the striking mechanism with a gong, along with the central seconds and instant-jump date-change system. The new Jaeger-LeCoultre Polaris Memovox, measuring 44mm in diameter, comes with a brand-new rubber strap with a new folding buckle and is water resistant to 200 meters.
