The Swiss watchmaker Longines has partnered with its Ambassador of Elegance Kate Winslet, for a very special Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet watch. Three models of this exclusive gold watch have been unveiled yesterday, in Longines’s boutique located at Faubourg Saint-Honoré in Paris. The watches will be auctioned online for the benefit of The Golden Hat Foundation, a charity co-founded by the British actress. The exclusive new timepiece, featuring the same dial as The Flagship Heritage – 60th Anniversary timepiece, is available in five exemplars, three of which will be auctioned. The first Longines Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet watch will rest in the Longines museum in Switzerland, while the fifth one will be gifted to Kate Winslet.
According to Longines, during a visit to the brand’s headquarters in Switzerland last year, Winslet chose the dial, the case and strap of the watch. She was immediately attracted to the original 1957 Flagship watch, and wanted to create something similar that would also help in changing the way people on the autism spectrum are perceived:
“I was given the permission to choose a watch, which was designed specifically for the Golden Hat Foundation. The style of the model really appealed to me and I instantly fell in love with it. All the profits of the selling of the model are going directly to the Foundation. This project with Longines is helping raise awareness about a particular cause dear to my heart. Thanks to Longines’ involvement and the generosity of the donators, the Foundation will keep on working towards achieving its goals.” – Kate Winslet
Longines Flagship Heritage by Kate Winslet is an elegant round timepiece that measures 35mm in diameter. Its 18-carat gold case houses the Swiss Made self-winding mechanical movement Caliber L609 (ETA 2895/2), allowing for 42 hours of power reserve. Each of the five exemplars is numbered and has the actress’ signature engraved on the case-back. The solid back medallion also features an engraving of the Longines's emblematic Flagship. The watch face reveals yellow Dauphine hands showing the hours and minutes, as well as the seconds indicator at a subdial at 6:00. There are four Arabic numerals on the dial, as well as 8 crisp indices. The watch is water resistant to 30 meters, and mounted on a beige calf leather strap with buckle.
The models numbered 2/5, 3/5 and 4/5 will be auctioned online at https://www.longines.com/auction from 10 June at 6pm CEST to 30 June 2017 at 5:59pm CEST. The bids are starting at $25,000 each, and going up in increments of $500.
