The famous Swiss watch brand, founded in in Florence, Italy, back in 1860, has just released the new Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio, a watch that beautifully captures the spirit of Panerai and the rich tradition of this brand.
The most outstanding feature of the new watch is its remarkable case that ensures very high resistance to magnetic fields – up to 40,000 A/m. This actually means that Officine Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio resists magnetic fields more than eight times than the amount specified by the international norms of the Normes de l’Industrie Horlogère Suisse. This is possible due to the special internal case made of iron, which holds a movement in a Faraday cage, pushing away the stream of magnetic fields.
This unique feature is especially worthy in extreme conditions, but even in everyday life it finds its use since it protects the watch from disturbances caused by electronic appliances, computers and mobile phones. The magnetic forces arising from electric currents most definitely affect a watch on the daily basis, and they may influence its proper functioning. This is exactly where the Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio excels, as it flawlessly neutralizes the effect of magnetic fields, ensuring the undisturbed time-telling and the highest possible level of precision.
The wtach is crafted in titanium and it arrives in a masculine 47mm-wide round case. The housing is topped with a vintage-looking bezel, inspired by the iconic models that Panerai made for the Egyptian Navy in the 1950s. The bezel is crafted in titanium and paired with an opaque black ceramic disc with titanium markers. Since this is a genuine dive watch, its bezel is unidirectional, and rotates only clockwise – to prevent any accidental change in position. The watch is water resistant to 300 meters.
Nested below the dial thicks the exclusive in-house movement Panerai P.9000 calibre. This automatic mechanical movement is endowed with 3 days of power reserves and it beats at 28.800 vibrations per hour. The movement is equipped with Incabloc absorber, Glucydur balance and two barrels. All 197 components of the movement, and its 28 jewels, are driving functions for hours, minutes, small seconds, date, calculation of immersion time. Officine Panerai Luminor Submersible 1950 Amagnetic 3 Days Automatic Titanio is mounted on a personalized rubber strap and shipped with a second interchangeable strap, a tools to change it. The watch will be issued under the reference number PAM 389, and it will be officially presented at next year's SIHH. The price for this piece will be somewhere around $11,500.
