Officine Panerai has recently introduced four new limited edition watches with metallic blue dials and a sunburst finish.
Each of the dials is adorned with contrasting gold-colored hands, indices, and numerals, with ecru-colored Super-LumiNova. Panerai’s emblematic sandwich-type dials composed of two disks positioned on top of each other. The bottom dial is coated with luminous material, while the numerals and indexes are cut out of the top disc.
The four new special editions with blue dials include two Luminor models — the Luminor 1950 3 Days GMT Automatic Acciaio and Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT Automatic Acciaio — and two Radiomir models, the Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio and Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso. The watches are presented in blue-colored cherry wood boxes along with an additional rubber strap, a strap-changing tool, and a screwdriver.
Panerai Luminor 1950 3 Days Acciaio – 42mm (Ref. PAM00688) is mounted on a blue colored leather strap with contrasting ecru-colored stitching. Its 42-mm-wide case is made of polished stainless steel, and it features the crown protecting lever bridge, which once allowed the brand to create the first underwater military watch. Today the bridge protects the crown from environmental shocks, and ensures up to 100 meters of water resistance. The case accommodates Panerai’s automatic Caliber P.9001, which provides functions for the hours, minutes, small seconds, and date. A GMT function is facilitated via the special central hand with arrow-shaped pointer. A 3-day power reserve indicator is placed on the back side of the movement, and is visible through a see-through sapphire case-back. The watch retails at $8,600. The watch is limited to 300 pieces.
Panerai Luminor 1950 10 Days GMT Automatic Acciaio – 44mm (PAM00689) features a blue stitched leather strap and a bit larger case than its blue-dialed Luminor counterpart. The watch measures 44mm in diameter, and its body is made of stainless steel. A power reserve is here positioned on the dial-side, along with a handy AM/PM indicator. The model is powered by the Panerai Caliber P.2003, which promises up to 10 days of power reserve. The date window is positioned at 3 o’clock, the linear power reserve indicator appears at 6 o’clock, while the small seconds indicator, appearing at 9 o’clock, shares the same position with the AM/PM indicator. A central arrow-tipped hand indicates a second time zone on the 12-hour scale. The price for this watch is $13,400. The watch is limited to 300 pieces.
Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Acciaio – 47mm (PAM00690) is available on an untreated leather Assolutamente strap with white stitching and pressed Officine Panerai logo. The watch is crafted from stainless steel and it measures 47mm in diameter. Powered by the Panerai’s manual-winding P.3000 movement, which can be admired through the sapphire caseback. The movement offers three days of power reserve, a small seconds indicator at 9 o’clock, and a quick-setting mechanism. Limited to 500 pieces and priced at $9,200.
Finally, the most exclusive Panerai Radiomir 1940 10 Days GMT Automatic Oro Rosso (PAM00659) is crafted from red gold, and it comes in a special limited edition of 200 pieces worldwide. The watch measures 45mm in diameter and its case accommodates the P.2003/10 movement, which is technically identical to the movement of the first blue-dialed Radiomir, except it has been skeletonized. The watch is priced at $35,900.
