Officine Panerai is the official sponsor of the Panerai Transat Classique 2012 race, and the longtime partner of the Atlantic Yacht Club, has just unveiled a special edition, to celebrate the most spectacular regatta of the season.
The new model is Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante 8 Days Titanio, crafted in titanium and graced with an exclusive logo of the Panerai Transat Classique 2012. This exclusive special edition is available in only 500 exemplars, but one of them is already reserved for the owner of the yacht winning the exciting nautical race.
Panerai has always been a promoter nautical sports, and historically associated with the Italian Navy. The spirit of the brand and its rich heritage are embedded in the DNA of this watch, which has been entirely developed and created in the Officine Panerai manufacture in Neuchâtel. The watch is a split-seconds chrono (rattrapante) powered by the P.2006 movement and controlled by two independent pushers. The first one, located at 8 o'clock, animates the chronograph hand, while the second one, at 10 o'clock, measures partial times or a second event simultaneous with the first.
As any other superior chronograph made by Panerai, the new PAM427 is endowed with 8 days of power reserve. The core of the watch carries a special patented system of three spring barrels, and the amount of remaining stored energy is shown by the horizontal indicator at the lower portion of the dial. Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante 8 Days Titanio PAM427 measures 47mm in diameter and it is rendered in brushed titanium. The case is hermetically sealed and water resistant to 100 meters.
Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante 8 Days Titanio PAM427 features the brand's emblematic sandwich dial, which is made of two superimposed discs with a layer of Super-LumiNova between them. The small cut-outs on the upper disc reveal bright luminat, creating the optical illusion of depth and three-dimensionality, while providing superior legibility even in very low lighting conditions.
Panerai Luminor 1950 Rattrapante 8 Days Titanio PAM427 is presented on a sporty rubber strap and available exclusively from Panerai boutiques and a small number of specialist watch shops.
