Panerai has just unveiled its new Panerai PAM 526 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Automatic Titanio, a new piece witch is very similar to PAM 524 and PAM 525 models from the Contemporary collection.
With this new model, Officine Panerai honors the world of vintage yacht racing and celebrates the partnership with the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, the renowned international circuit of races for vintage and classic yachts. The Luminor 1950 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Titanio is an exciting automatic chronograph endowed with the Regatta countdown function. The Countdown function, or the Regatta function enables the wearer to keep track of time in the approach to the race. This function drives the central orange chronograph minute hand which moves back one minute at a time, counting down to the start of the race. The orange push-button at four o’clock controls this function while the push button at ten o’clock starts and stops the chronograph. A third push button, located at eight o’clock resets the chronograph function and returns its hands to zero.
The watch comes with a black sandwich dial and differently colored chronograph hands. There are two sub-counters on the dial – the one at 3 o’clock is for hours, while the other one at 9 o’clock indicates small seconds. There is a tachymeter scale on a flange and orange scale of up to 15 minutes for the countdown (the five last minutes are in orange). Everything is nested in a titanium case with 47 mm in diameter and powered by the P.9100/R movement. This mechanism with two barrels provides no less than three days of power reserve and it is visible through the openworked case-back.
Panerai Luminor 1950 Regatta 3 Days Chrono Flyback Titanio (PAM00526) is water resistant to 100 meters and it is mounted on a black rubber strap. The watch retails at $11,800.
