Panerai renews its rich heritage and demonstrates the true meaning haute horlogerie in contemporary sports watchmaking. Introducing the Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica.
Officine Panerai is launching a completely new version of its iconic Radiomir 1940 model. This time, the famous Panerai watch that was once made exclusively for the commandos of the Royal Italian Navy, comes with high-tech carbon case, with minimalistic, contemporary-looking dial. As announced by the famous watchmaking brand, the new Radiomir 1940 is utterly modern in appearance, and yet it retains all of the elements of Officine Panerai’s recognizable DNA.
The new Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica features a striking matte black case, which is made of a special kind of ceramic, synthesized from Zirconium Oxide. Compared to Panerai’s classic steel lineup, the new ceramic watch is more resistant to scratches, corrosion, and high temperatures, while it remains noticeably lighter in weight. The elegant dark case of 48 mm in diameter embraces the sleek black dial with sandwich structure. The restrained, minimalist design of the watch face, contributes to its noble simplicity and clarity. The bottom disk features a rich layer of ecru-colored Super-LumiNova®, which ensures great visibility in low light conditions, and gives a nice dimension to the watch face. The dial also reveals the image of the Silura a Lenta Corsa (human torpedo) rendered in fine relief. This interesting symbol is a nod to Panerai’s rich heritage, reminding us that Radiomir was originally designed at the end of the 1930s, for the Italian Navy.
The Panerai Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica is powered by the in-house P.3000 hand-wound movement. The mechanism is partially revealed through a large polished sapphire crystal window in the back of the case. The wearer can admire its wide brush-finished bridges and a large balance wheel connected to two spring barrels, which provide a power reserve of three days (72 hours).
The new Radiomir 1940 3 Days Ceramica, reference number PAM00577, is water-resistant to 100 meters. The watch is delivered on a brown leather strap with contrasting hand-sewing, and closed by a trapezoidal buckle in DLC-treated black titanium.
