Porsche Design and Porsche have recently unveiled the latest fruit of their imaginative collaboration: a custom-made Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series, which will be made available only to those who own the new Porsche 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series cars!
Porsche will produce only 400 of the cars, each priced at a staggering $257,200 USD! Consequently, only 500 of the Porsche Design Chronograph 911 Turbo S Exclusive Series watches will be made, and offered at a price of $12,650.
For the upcoming release, Porsche Design has developed its first in-house movement, the Caliber Werk 01.200. According to the press release, the mechanical movement was three years in the making, and it features a flyback chronograph mechanism and an optimized-energy rotor shaped like the wheel rims of the car. The flyback function allows it to instantly return the chronograph hand to zero position, without the need to first stop the chronograph. The rotor is painted in the original vehicle color and attached to the movement by means of the central shutter featuring the Porsche Crest.
The 25-jewel movement beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and offers around 48 hours of power reserve. It propels the central chronograph hand, a 30-minute chronograph subdial at 12 o’clock, a 12-hour subdial at 6 o’clock, a date window at 4 o’clock, and a function indicator at 9 o’clock.
The carbon steel dial and leather strap of the model can be customized according to the future owner’s preferences, allowing the owner to match the timepiece with his or hers sports car. Porsche Design offers six carbon dial options in Porsche lacquer paint: Golden Yellow Metallic, Carrera White Metallic, Agate Grey Metallic, Black, Guards Red, and Graphite Blue Metallic. The straps, made of the same high-quality leather and thread like the vehicle seats, are also customizable, and each watch is delivered with a titanium bracelet and two leather straps. Finally, the rotor is available in a choice of golden accents or in black.
The chronograph will be accessible exclusively to the future owners of the 911 Turbo S Exlcusive Series sports car, which is linked to the respective individual limit number (001/500 - 500/500) and can only be ordered at the Porsche Centers worldwide.
