BaselWorld 2017
At Baselworld 2017, the house of Porsche Design introduced a new era chronograph, Monobloc Actuator Chronograph, a watch that beautifully unites time measurement and motorsport. The newly launched chronograph is a reliable time measuring tool, precise to mere fractions of a second. For the latest release, the watchmakers at Porsche Design Timepieces AG in Solothurn, Switzerland collaborated with the designers at Studio F. A. Porsche in Zell am See Austria and the engineers at Porsche Development Centre in Weissach, Germany. The result is a revolutionary new chronograph that incorporates the chronograph buttons seamlessly into the case of the watch.

The new MONOBLOC ACTUATOR Collection is distinguished by a multiply borne rocker switch that alternately sets into motion and halts the chronograph mechanism of automatic Calibre ETA Valjoux 7754. The self-winding movement is mounted on 25 jewels, beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, and provides around 48 hours of power reserve. The stop-watch function of the chronograph is pressure resistant to 100 meters, which means that it remains fully operational even underwater.

The new product family debuts with the Monobloc Actuator GMT-Chronotimer, a model that is ideal for measuring 24-hour races, or jetting across multiple time zones. In each of its executions, the Monobloc Actuator GMT-Chronotimer comes in a 45.5 millimeter titanium case, with a matte black or a deep blue sunburst-dial, paired with a rubber or an all-titanium bracelet.

In addition, there is the limited edition Monobloc Actuator 24-H Chronotimer, featuring an innovative black titanium-carbide coating over its titanium case. This tone-on-tone model features a matte black dial and a checkered-flag-design function indicator at “9 o’clock.” This special model is exclusively available on a rubber strap with deployment buckle.

The new MONOBLOC ACTUATOR Collection will be available in Porsche Design stores and select wholesalers from May 2017. Prices range from approximately $6,350 to $6,850.
