Romain Gauthier has revealed the Logical One Natural Titanium, a new timepiece in the Logical One series of ultra-high-end watches.
As explained by the famous independent watch manufacturer, the new addition to the Logical One collection surely deviates from traditional case materials typically enjoyed by ultra-high-end collectors. In Gauthier’s own words: “Titanium is still a step too far for many. I respect that, but I believe that in time high-end collectors will move over and eventually won’t think twice about acquiring an haute horlogerie timepiece in titanium. For Logical One Natural Titanium, my instinct was ‘build it, and they shall come’. Personally, I really wanted to see Logical One Natural Titanium become a reality, not least because I think Logical One and natural titanium were made to go together.”
The Logical One Natural Titanium is made from the sturdy and lightweight titanium, a material that is most often associated with sporty, or experimental watches. Romain Gauthier decided to use it because its robustness makes for a durable case; its light weight provides an eminently comfortable wear, while its lustrous silvery shade makes a strong visual statement. The beauty of the material is underlined by contrasting finishes applied to the case and the movement. The alternating interplay of light and dark, polished and satin-finished, brings out all of its splendor to the forefront.
The Logical One in Natural Titanium represents the 21st-century reinterpretation of a traditional chain-and-fusee style constant force mechanism. The system is visible on the display to the left of the hour-minute sub-dial. The revolutionary snail cam and friction-minimizing ruby-link chain, plus sapphire-lined mainspring barrel, offer around two days of constant force. The snail cam and the barrel are positioned on the same plane, so the force is transmitted in a straight line, for an ultra-efficient transfer of energy. The watch is wound via the state-of-the-art push button winding system, with the pusher set into the case band at 9 o’clock.
The in-house movement was conceived, developed, assembled, and tested at Manufacture Romain Gauthier in the Vallée de Joux, Switzerland. It comprises no less than 359 components and 63 jewels, including 26 jewels for the constant-force chain. The movement beats at a frequency of 28800 vibrations per hour, and provides around 46 hours of power reserve. The mechanical marvel is contained inside of a 43mm x 15mm case, which is water resistant to up to 30 meters.
Romain Gauthier's Logical One Natural Titanium is available with oven-fired white enamel dial with flame-blued steel hands, oven-fired black enamel dial with 18k gold hands, or black clous de Paris dial with 18k gold hands. In both of its renditions, the watch is mounted on a matte black alligator leather strap with light grey stitching.
Romain Gauthier's Logical One Natural Titanium is priced at 98,000 Swiss Francs (excluding taxes) for the clous de Paris edition and 102,000 Swiss Francs (excluding taxes) for the enamel edition.
