Marina Milojević | 09.07.15 | 12:32 AM

Novak Djokovic, the famous Serbian professional tennis player who is currently ranked world No. 1 in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals, has recently received a custom-made watch from Seiko.

Djoković, who used to be an ambassador for Audemars Piguet, changed watch sponsors at the end of 2013, when he entered into an endorsement deal with the Japanese watch manufacturer. Since then, Seiko has produced a number of models dedicated to Novak Djoković, while the latest Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition, joined the collection just in time before Wimbledon 2014.

Since last summer, Djokovic has played in 20 tournaments in 20 cities in 12 countries, and each time he shifted from one to another time zone, all he had to do is to touch a button and see his watch adjust to the local time automatically. This year, Seiko introduced the new Astron Dual-Time series, and along with it a brand new Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition timepiece. The new collection shares all of the core features of the current Astron, but it comes with a new caliber and a simplified dial layout.

Same as all other watches from the Astron GPS Solar series, the new Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition is powered by light. The watch connects to the GPS network and self-adjusts, at the press of a button, to changes in time zones. The watch identifies time zone from the global network for of GPS satellites, and receives information about time from the Atomic Clocks in each GPS satellite. This amazingly precise timepiece is allowed to vary only one second every 100,000 years. Without receiving a time signal, the watch’s accuracy will drop to +/-15 seconds per month.

Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition

Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition receives its power from light absorbed through the dial. The great thing about it is that it sources its energy from all different kinds of light, and has a power reserved indicator that shows the amount of energy stored. The home time is displayed on a 12-hour sub-dial with a separate AM/PM indicator, while the day of the week appears in a retrograde display at the 2 o'clock position. Calendar correction is automatic, and Astron's perpetual calendar is correct until February 28, 2100.

The new Seiko Astron GPS Solar Dual-Time Novak Djokovic Limited Edition watch is made of rose-gold colored stainless steel. The watch combines sport and elegance in a way that makes it perfect for every aspect of its wearer's lifestyle. It features a sophisticated brown dial and a black ceramic bezel, with the rose-gold color highlights scattered across the 44.6mm-wide watch face: on the hads, sub-counters, and indices. The watch is mounted on a brown crocodile strap with three-fold clasp with push button release. It is sealed against the ingress of water to up to 100 meters.
