Longines presents Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, the latest horse-inspired pocket watch belonging to the Heritage collection.
For BaselWorld 2014, Longines presented the Equestrian Lépine pocket watch, which was announced as the brand’s tribute to the year of the horse. The watch, rendered in rose gold, was designed after the historical Longines Lépine pocket watch, dating from 1927. This year, Longines continues to celebrate its passion for equestrian sports in the same manner. The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, a pocket watch made of 18-carat rose gold, was unveiled a couple of weeks ago, at the BaselWorld 2015 trade show. This extraordinary piece is a faithful replica of the metal Lépine pocket watch dating from 1911, which is nowadays kept at the Longines museum in Saint-Imier.

The famous Swiss brand is closely tied to the world of equestrian sport ever since 1878. This is when Longines unveiled its first chronograph embellished with an engraving of a jockey and his horse. The Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio, from 1911, is only one of the many historical examples of Longines watches that were used by horse-lovers and jockeys to measure performances to the seconds. Only a year later, in 1912, the brand became involved, for the first time ever, in a show-jumping event in 1912 in Lisbon. Today, Longines follows its natural inclination in the field of sports timekeeping, and especially equestrian sports, as the official timing partner of many renowned racing and show-jumping competitions.

The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, in its modern-day, 18-carat rose gold version, depicts a trio of horses set against a delicate foliage backdrop. The heads of these proud animals appear on the upper cover, surrounded by plant motifs. The watch measures 48.20 mm in diameter, and it features a classic white dial adorned with black painted Arabic numerals and a minute circle. The hours and minutes are indicated by Breguet-type blued steel hands, while the small seconds counter appears at the 6 o’clock position. The sides and the bow are finely decorated in the spirit of the historical model.

The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911 is powered by the L878.4 calibre with manual winding. The movement is built on 7 jewels, and it beats at a frequency of 18,000 vibrations/hour, ensuring a generous amount of power reserve – to up to 40 hours.
The Longines Equestrian Pocket Watch Horses Trio 1911, reference number L7. 035.8.13.1, is available in a small limited series of 20 numbered pieces. Each copy features its own individual number stamped on the case-back.
